SUSPECT(S): Marco Antonio Paez, 22-years-old, Resident of Ontario

SUMMARY: Marco Antonio Paez was an in-custody inmate participating in the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Electronic Confinement Program. Paez is serving a sentence of 120 days for the charge of felony Penal Code section 496(d) Possession of Stolen Property.
On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Paez was ordered by the court to have an electronic GPS monitoring device placed on his ankle for his conviction.
On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at about 10:57 p.m., the Satellite Tracking of People (STOP) monitoring call center notified Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center Work Release deputies of a master tamper notification on Paez's GPS tracking device. Through investigative leads, Work Release deputies discovered Paez had cut off his ankle monitor, packed his clothes and fled his residence during prohibited hours. Due to the house arrest violation, the court issued an arrest warrant for Paez.
On Thursday, May 29, 2025, at about 9:02 a.m., Work Release deputies and the Rancho Cucamonga Multi Enforcement Team arrived at Paez's residence to serve the arrest warrant. During the service of the warrant, Paez was located hiding in a vehicle behind the residence. Paez was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors authorizes the Sheriff to administer a Work Release program. While providing manual labor to improve or maintain public facilities, inmates may re-establish ties with their family, return to work with their previous employers, while serving the community on their non-scheduled workdays. Inmates who have been sentenced to Work Release by the courts also have the option of participating in Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center's Electronic Confinement Program (ECP). It is the duty of the Work Release division to ensure that all commitments are held accountable to all California State Laws while participating in the program to provide safety and security for the community.
