Wise, Hughes Charged with Numerous Drug Offenses
Deputies charged a Morganton couple with numerous drug offenses after a traffic stop on Sugar Hill Road in Marion.
Deputy Jordan Cox with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Travis James Wise, 32, and Darlene Nicole Hughes, 36, each with the following:
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
- Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine
- Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substance
- Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana (up to ½ oz.)
- Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Additionally, Wise received a misdemeanor charge for Fictitious or Altered Title/Reg. Card/Tag.
Both were given secured bonds of $42,000 each.
On May 20, Deputy Cox stopped a Toyota Echo on Sugar Hill Rd. for a traffic violation. Wise, the driver was found to be operating the vehicle with no license and a fictious tag.
A subsequent search of the car by deputies turned up 21 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
