Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Theft from Auto Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. seeks the public’s help in identifying the suspect pictured below, who stole a victim’s wallet with personal belongings from his unlocked vehicle on April 28, 2025.
The victim parked his car at approximately 7:05 p.m. on South 6th Street, near the 300 block of South Orange Avenue, to get food from a restaurant. When he returned, the victim’s wallet, containing bank cards, identification cards, and his driver’s license, was missing. On surveillance video, the suspect entered the victim’s car, took his personal belongings, and fled Westbound on South Orange Avenue.
The suspect, a Black male with a medium build, wore grey ripped jeans, a blue Champion hoodie, and black sneakers.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
