Newark Police Department Crime Blotter: Monday May 26 - Sunday June 1, 2025 
The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, MAY 26, 2025:
9:53 AM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Bettencourt & Haley St. The vehicle was later recovered near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave by Vehicle Abatement Officer (VBO) Tanaka.
10:39 AM Officer Taylor investigated a retail theft that occurred near Cherry St & Thornton Ave, followed by a license plate theft near Newpark Mall Road. The license plate was later recovered by another agency.
12:55 PM Officer Jackman responded to an attempted vehicle theft from Overlake Place & Fircrest St. The door handle was punctured to gain access into the vehicle, and the ignition was tampered with.
3:10 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a commercial burglary near Cedar Blvd & Central Ave. Entry was gained by cutting through the fence. Several locks were also discovered cut open.
7:19 PM Officer Dale conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration. A 29-year-old male was cited for false registration.
TUESDAY, MAY 27, 2025:
9:26 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a package theft that occurred near Ash St & Thornton Ave.
11:00 AM CSO Lau recovered two stolen vehicles on Sycamore St.
4:45 PM Officer Norvell responded to a theft of vehicle tires near Seawind Way & Hickory St
8:52 PM Officer Dale investigated the theft of electronics from a vehicle near Cedar & Newark Boulevards. With the assistance of a nearby agency, a 44-year-old male was located in possession of multiple stolen items. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
9:19 PM Officer Norvell responded to a theft of pharmaceuticals on Newpark Mall Rd.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 2025:
2:32 AM Officer Williams initiated a traffic enforcement stop on Cedar Blvd. A 41-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
7:54 AM Officer Lara conducted a welfare check near Cedar Blvd & Cedar Court. An 18-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was booked into Juvenile Hall.
3:07 PM CSO Lau investigated a license plate theft near Jarvis Ave & Haley St. The license plate was later recovered and returned to the owner.
8:59 PM Officer Dale came upon a solo vehicle collision near Thornton Ave & Marshlands Rd. The driver, a 20-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
THURSDAY, MAY 29, 2025:
1:25 PM Officer Lor was dispatched to a jewelry swap scam near Birch Grove Park.
9:36 PM Officer Quinonez responded to a domestic disturbance near Sycamore St & Thornton Ave.
FRIDAY, MAY 30, 2025:
6:48 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Rd. The vehicle window was broken into and a bag containing tools was taken.
10:30 AM Officer Berlanga arrested a 24-year-old female for identity theft. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:42 PM Officer Orozco responded to a disturbance reported near Seawind Way & Hickory St. A 32-year-old male was arrested for domestic violence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
10:01 PM Officer Medina investigated a battery incident. A 44-year-old female was arrested for domestic violence and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SATURDAY, MAY 31, 2025:
12:22 AM Officer Shaffer was dispatched to a disturbance on Mowry School Road. A 41-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for an outstanding warrant.
12:59 AM Officer Dale conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Newark Blvd & Civic Terrace Ave. A 25-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
3:02 AM Officer Orozco responded to an attempted vehicle burglary and battery reported near Sycamore St & Graham Ave. A 46-year-old male was arrested for battery and violation of probation terms. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
4:12 AM Officer Medina investigated a theft from a cash register near Cedar Blvd & S Magazine Dr.
6:44 AM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a mail theft that occurred near Cherry St & Mowry Ave.
7:02 AM Officer Lomeli investigated a report of an unlocked vehicle that was burglarized near Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cherry St.
SUNDAY, JUNE 1, 2025:
12:49 AM Officer Jackman investigated a license plate theft near Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cedar Blvd.
2:26 PM Officer Stevenson investigated multiple mail/package thefts that occurred near Cherry St & Brush Rabbit Ave.
11:07 PM Officer Orozco responded to a report of an unwanted guest creating a disturbance near Jarvis Ave & Dumbarton Ct. A 43-year-old male was arrested for violation of probation and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
