Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the below designated hours due to the updated City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event:
 
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, June 4, 2025
 
- Dickerson Street between 1st Street and Norfolk Street
-,Duryea Street between Central Avenue and Dickerson Street
- Morris Avenue between Central Avenue and Dickerson Street
- Hecker Street between Dickerson Street and Sussex Avenue
- Hudson Street between Sussex Avenue and Dickerson Street
- Jay Street between Central Avenue and Sussex Avenue 
 
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Duryea Street and Dickerson Street. 
 
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
 
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
