...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of Central and South Central Kansas, including
the following counties, in Central Kansas, Marion. In South
Central Kansas, Butler, Harvey, Reno and Sedgwick.
* WHEN...Until 215 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1005 AM CDT, trained weather spotters reported heavy rain
in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing
or expected to begin shortly. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches are possible
in the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita, Derby, Newton, El Dorado, Andover, Haysville,
Augusta, Park City, Valley Center, Bel Aire, Mulvane,
Goddard, Rose Hill, Hesston, Maize, Clearwater, Cheney,
Halstead, North Newton and Douglass.
Instructions:
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown
