West Springfield, MA — The Town of West Springfield proudly announces that Mayor Will Reichelt has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Spotlight Award by the Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau as part of the 28th Annual Howdy Awards for Hospitality Excellence. This honor recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the region’s hospitality and tourism industry.
The 28th Annual Howdy Awards ceremony was held on Monday, April 28th, 2025, at the MassMutual Center in Springfield. The event brought together hospitality professionals and community leaders from across Western Massachusetts to celebrate excellence in customer service and community engagement.
The Howdy Awards, now a regional tradition, honor those who go above and beyond in making Western Massachusetts a warm, welcoming destination. The Spotlight Award, in particular, acknowledges exceptional individuals whose efforts have had a profound and lasting impact on the visitor experience and regional tourism.
Under Mayor Reichelt’s leadership, West Springfield has seen numerous initiatives aimed at boosting local tourism and enhancing the Town’s appeal to both visitors and residents. His commitment to creating a vibrant, inclusive, and visitor-friendly community has helped position West Springfield as a key destination within the Pioneer Valley.
“[Mayor Reichelt] learned early on what is good for West Springfield is good for the region and what’s good for another community might be good for West Springfield. He really promotes tourism by virtue of being Mayor of West Springfield,” commented former Mayor Ed Sullivan. “Will puts his heart and soul into promoting the area, especially West Springfield being the nucleus, and the region as a whole.”
