Update to Santa Maria Police Department homicide investigation. SMPD25-0007425 
On 6/4/25 at approximately 1428 hours, SMPD Officers responded to the 200 block of North Western Avenue to a reported stabbing. Officers arrived and located an adult male stabbing victim who was in stable condition, and a second victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. A third male was located and arrested on scene for the stabbing and shooting.
The victim with the gunshot wound was transported to Marian Medical Center, however, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced as deceased. The decedent has been identified as Julio Sanchez Lopez, a 24 year old resident of Santa Maria.
The suspect has been identified as Josue Anguiano, a 31 year old resident of Santa Maria. Anguiano was transported to Santa Barbara County Jail where he was booked for 187 PC: Murder, 664-187 PC: Attempted Murder, 136 PC: Dissuading a Witness, and various felony firearms charges.
