License Check Point Leads to Drug Charges for Marion Man
Detective Matt Smith with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team charged 41-year-old Adam Lee Franklin of Marion with the following:
• Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
• Felony Maintain a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substance
• Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance
He was given a $15,000 secured bond.
On Friday, May 23, Det. Smith was assisting the North Carolina State Highway Patrol with a driver’s license checkpoint in the Nebo area when Franklin was stopped and found to be driving with no license.
Detectives utilized MCSO K9 Hiko for a free-air sniff of the vehicle, which yielded a positive alert.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a suspected amount (14 grams) of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
