SUBJECT: Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Narcotics Charges

LOCATION: Rt. 66 near Rt. 18 in Ocean Township    
 
ACCUSED: James P. Brennan 47 year old male of Howell, NJ and Vincent Lista 58 year old male of Freehold, NJ
 
NARRATIVE:   On June 1^st, 2025 at approximately 9:45 am Officer Dane Richards conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 66 in the area of Rt. 18 for traffic violations.  During the stop, the passenger stated that he did not have any identification with him and provided a name to Officer Richards, which was determined to not be his true identity.  Officer Richards was able to positively identify the passenger as James P. Brennan during his investigation.  Further investigation lead Officer Richards to locate  crack cocaine and several pieces of drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.  Lista and Brennan were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.  Brennan was found to have several active warrants for his arrest and he was also charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Hindering.  Brennan was turned over to the Howell Township Police.  Lista was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Failure to Turn over CDS to the Police, as well as several motor vehicle summonses.  Lista was released on a summons pending an initial court appearance.
