NC Launches the State Private Road and Bridge Repair Program
Governor Stein has announced the launch of the State Private Road and Bridge Repair Program website. As part of Executive Order #2, this program is designed to assist property owners in Western North Carolina who have sustained damage to private roads or bridges. State officials are working to secure additional funding and expedite services. McDowell County residents with eligible damages are encouraged to submit their interest in participating by visiting www.ncdps.gov/helene/prb

McDowell County Private Property Debris Removal Program Enters Collection Phase
Debris removal has begun. The application period has now closed. Assessments of recent applications are ongoing and being submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for processing. Here are a few things to know! Debris removal occurs in stages since certain debris requires different types of equipment. Work on individual properties will be intermittent and will conclude with hauling debris that has been staged on the property. A doorhanger will be placed at the property when debris removal has been completed. If you have applied but have not heard anything, your application is being processed. We ask residents to be patient with the contractors and County staff as this is an ongoing effort.
