SUBJECT:     Two Suspects Arrested for High-Value Commercial Burglary
 
LOCATION: Medallion Rug Outlet, 370 Convention Way Redwood City
 
DATE/TIME: June 1, 2025, Approximately 2:30 P.M.
 
On June 1, 2025 a commercial burglary occurred at the Medallion Rug Outlet located at 370 Convention Way in Redwood City. At least three suspects were captured on video and stole a variety of items valued at approximately $150,000 to $200,000.
 
Officers recognized at least two of the suspects as Redwood City residents, Faustino Dennis Ayala (40) and Scott William Llewellyn (32). On June 3, Officers located Ayala at a local encampment and placed him under arrest. A large amount of the stolen property was recovered at this time. On June 4, Officers located Llewellyn and placed him under arrest.
 
Both subjects were booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility on charges of Penal Code 460(b) – Commercial Burglary, Penal Code 182(a) – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, Penal Code 666.1(a)(1) – Commit Theft with Prior Convictions for Theft and Penal Code 12022.6(a)(1) – Enhancement for Property Loss over $65,000.
 
While not every complex property crime investigation results in swift arrests and significant property recovery, this case highlights the value of thorough investigative work, inter-unit collaboration, and persistence. The teamwork demonstrated here underscores the importance of proactive policing, detailed evidence review, and coordinated field operations in achieving successful outcomes. The recovery of a substantial amount of stolen property and the apprehension of two suspects reflects the dedication and effectiveness of the officers and detectives involved.
