The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, JUNE 2, 2025:
12:51 PM Officer Lomeli responded to a domestic disturbance near Birch St & Thornton Ave. A 45-year-old male was arrested for domestic battery and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
1:18 PM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a report of a residential burglary that occurred near Haley & Bettencourt Streets. A 41-year-old female was arrested for trespassing, battery on a peace officer, and vandalism. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
6:49 PM Officer Williams investigated a report of mail theft from the area of Seawind Way & Hickory St. A credit card was taken from a mailbox and used fraudulently for purchases.
10:55 PM CSO Mora investigated a mailbox burglary from Central Ave & Willow St. Mail and additional packages were reported taken.
TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 2025:
1:27 AM While on routine patrol, Officer Williams contacted a 53-year-old male in a parking lot near Thorton Ave & Cedar Blvd. He was arrested for narcotics intoxication and violation of probation, and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
3:52 AM Officer Orozco responded to a disturbance near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave. A 33-year-old male with multiple felony warrants was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
5:37 AM Officer Norvell was dispatched to an attempted vehicle theft near Cedar Blvd & S Magazine Dr. The rear window was shattered, and the dashboard was pried open.
6:41 PM Officer Cervantes investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd, and a package theft from Cedar & Lake Boulevards.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4, 2025:
12:58 AM Officer Dale conducted a traffic stop near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 20-year-old male was cited for driving without a license and possession of false registration.
1:20 AM Officer Williams observed a vehicle driving erratically near Cherry St & Central Ave and conducted a traffic stop. A 24-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
4:30 AM Officer Dale responded to a hit-and-run collision near Lake Blvd & Ramsgate Dr. An unreported stolen vehicle was recovered at the location.
7:47 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Cedar Blvd & Central Ave. The vehicle was recovered a few hours later by a neighboring agency.
7:48 AM Officer Piquette investigated a vehicle theft near Cedar Blvd & McDonald Ave.
7:01 PM Officer Dale investigated a mailbox burglary near Ruschin & Forestwood Drive.
THURSDAY, JUNE 5, 2025:
10:09 AM Officer Berlanga responded to a domestic disturbance in the area of Thornton Ave & Spruce St. A 45-year-old male was arrested for inflicting corporal injury and was subsequently booked into Santa Rita Jail.
3:19 PM CSO Lau investigated a mailbox burglary near Buena Vista Dr & Parada St.
FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 2025:
7:57 AM Officer Lara investigated a mailbox burglary that occurred near Cedar Blvd & Ruschin Dr. Officer Lor also investigated a mail theft from Central Ave & Willow St.
1:12 PM Officer Berlanga responded to a report of a person asleep behind the wheel near Cedar Blvd & Balentine Dr. A 39-year-old male with an outstanding warrant was determined to be under the influence of narcotics. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
2:53 PM CSO Mora responded to a vehicle burglary that occurred near Darvon St & Edgewater Dr. A bag containing training equipment was reported taken.
SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 2025:
12:11 AM Officer Dale investigated a reckless driving incident near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd.
1:20 AM Officer Shaffer was dispatched to a disturbance reported near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 25-year-old female was arrested for battery and assault. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
3:48 AM Officer Kim responded to a report of arson near Mowry Ave & Cherry St.
8:32 AM Officer Lomeli investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Newark Blvd & Brittany Ave.
2:09 PM Officer C. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary that occurred near Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cherry St. Reported loss included a pair of sunglasses, loose change, and the vehicle registration.
SUNDAY, JUNE 8, 2025:
12:23 PM Officer Cervantes investigated a hit and run collision near Jarvis Ave & Lido Blvd.
