OPD Investigates Series of Crimes Including Vandalism and Burglary

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating multiple crimes that occurred on June 10, 2025. Around 8:40 p.m., OPD officers responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of 34th Avenue and International Boulevard. While at the scene, several people threw objects at the officers, damaging a fully marked police vehicle and cracking its windshield. Fortunately, the officer was not injured.

Around the same time, an unidentified suspect or suspects set the vehicle involved in the collision on fire. The Oakland Fire Department (OFD) put out the fire, while OPD officers remained on the scene to ensure safety.

Nearly an hour later, just before 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a commercial burglary at a business located in the 3400 block of International Boulevard. Dozens of individuals were gathered on the street, while approximately 30 suspects entered the business.

Officers arrested one individual found in possession of stolen merchandise and a burglary tool.

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is actively monitoring situations nationwide. In compliance with city policy, OPD does not enforce or assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in enforcing civil immigration law violations.

OPD is committed to providing safe spaces for individuals to peacefully protest and exercise their First Amendment rights.

Let it be clear: OPD will not tolerate acts of violence, property destruction, or any other criminal behavior in our community.
