Suspect Attacks Victim with a Golf Club During an Assault in Needles


DATE/TIME: May 24, 2025 at approximately 7:18 a.m.

INCIDENT: PC 245(A)(1) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon and PC 368(B)(1) - Elder Abuse

LOCATION: 900 block of Front Street, Needles, CA 

SUSPECT(S): James Bryan, 66-years-old, Resident of Needles

VICTIM(S): Confidential


SUMMARY: On May 24, 2025, at approximately 7:18 a.m., deputies assigned to the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department responded to the 900 block of Front Street regarding an assault. 

When deputies arrived on scene, they met with the victim who had multiple injuries conclusive with an assault and discovered the suspect had fled the scene. Witnesses provided descriptions of the assailant and the attack. 

During the investigation, deputies were able to retrieve video surveillance which identified the suspect, James Bryan, assaulting the victim by striking him several times with a golf club, resulting in multiple injuries.  

On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at approximately 11:45 a.m., deputies executed a follow up search warrant investigation near the 1800 block of Davidson Lane in Needles. During the investigation, deputies located the clothing worn by the suspect during the assault.  As a result, James Bryan was arrested on the above-mentioned charges and booked at the Colorado River Station jail. Bryan remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $40,000, awaiting a court hearing.
