INCIDENT: CVC 20001(A) - Hit and Run with Injury
LOCATION: W Broadway Street and J Street, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Richard Herrera, 32 Years Old, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at approximately 12:54 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run vehicle accident near W Broadway and J Street. The suspect vehicle had struck the victim's vehicle, causing injury to the victim and damage to both vehicles, before fleeing the scene. Based on evidence at the scene and witness statements, the suspect vehicle was identified as a possible dark gray Honda CRV. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, deputies located a possible suspect vehicle near the 2000 block of Casa Linda Street in Needles. Through further investigation, deputies confirmed the dark gray Honda CRV as the suspect vehicle involved in the hit and run and identified Richard Herrera as the driver of the vehicle.
Herrera was subsequently arrested and booked at the Colorado River Station jail for CVC 20001(A) - Hit and Run with Injury and was also found to have an outstanding warrant for CVC 10851(A) - Vehicle Theft and PC 1203.2(A)(1) - Violation of Probation. Herrera remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, without bail, awaiting a court hearing.
