El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from June 1st – June 7th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito June 1st to June 7th

June 1st
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Schmidt Ln.
At 4:48 PM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop. During the investigation, officers found the subject had an active warrant for their arrest. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

June 2nd
Warrant Arrest – Potrero Ave. / S. 53rd St.
At 11:40 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the suspect to have an active warrant for their arrest. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Petty Theft – 200 block of Pomona Ave.
At 3:19 PM, the victim reports their driver’s license was stolen from out of their unlocked car.

June 3rd

June 4th
Possession of Stolen Property / False Identification to Officers / Narcotics Possession / Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia – 11939 San Pablo Ave. (Home Depot):
At 7:30 AM, officers located a stolen vehicle within the city and arrested the driver of the stolen vehicle. During the investigation, the driver gave a false name to officers and was in possession of a fabricated permanent citizen card. During a search incident to arrest, the driver was found to be in procession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Residential Burglary – 1600 Block of Arlington Blvd.
At 7:12 AM, an officer reports a suspect entered a vacant residence and stole items from the residence.

Vandalism / Grand Theft – San Pablo Ave. / Lincoln Ave.
At 1:25 PM, an officer reports a subject opened the compartment powering the pedestrian crosswalk alert lights and stole it’s batteries.

Armed Robbery – 11821 San Pablo Ave. (McDonalds):
At 6:20 PM, an officer reports a door dash driver was robbed inside the business.  The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.

Vandalism – Eureka Ave. / Liberty St. (Centennial Park):
At 7:40 PM, an officer reports two subjects spray painted graffiti on the sidewalk and BART pillars.  Both suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.

June 5th
Auto Burglary / Burglary Tools / Drug Paraphernalia – Wall Ave. / Kearney St.
At 12:43 PM, officers responded to the area for a report of an auto burglary. Officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

June 6th
Robbery – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 2:23 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole merchandise from the business.  When the suspect was confronted by staff, the suspect lifted their shirt to display a black handgun in their waistband. Officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. The suspect was positively identified, booked at El Cerrito Police Department, and Martinez Detention Facility.

June 7th
Theft with Priors - 11344 San Pablo Ave. (Denny’s):
At 1:31 AM, officers responded to the business for a report of a theft in progress. The suspect fled the store prior to police arrival. Officers arrived on scene and  located the suspect a block away from the business. The suspect was positively identified and arrested. During a records check, officers discovered the suspect had two prior convictions for theft. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Driving Under the Influence - 7500 Block of Terrace Dr.
At 2:40 AM, officers responded to the area for a report of a vehicle that collided into several parked vehicles. Upon arrival, officers contacted the driver of the moving vehicle and noticed the driver appeared to be intoxicated. During a DUI investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Robbery / Conspiracy / Organized Retail Theft / Probation Violation / Repeat Offender Theft – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 4:21 PM, two suspects entered the business and stole items. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. At 5:20 PM, Richmond Police Department UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) team located the suspect vehicle and set up aerial surveillance on the suspects nearby. With assistance from Richmond PD, officers positively identified and arrested the suspects.  Both suspects were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
