INCIDENT: P.C 4573.5- Smuggling Contraband at a Jail Facility
LOCATION: High Desert Detention Center-9438 Commerce Way Adelanto, CA
SUSPECT(S): Joeseph Contreras, 19 Year-old Male
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, detention staff at the High Desert Detention Center (HDDC) contacted a visitor at the facility, later identified as Joseph Contreras. During the contact, staff located approximately two pounds of marijuana and marijuana-related products inside his vehicle, along with various denominations of U.S. currency. Based on the evidence recovered, Contreras is facing a felony charge for smuggling contraband into a correctional facility.
Detention staff continue to work diligently to prevent the introduction of illegal drugs into the jail system. These efforts are essential to maintaining the safety and security of staff and inmates, and to reducing drug-related incidents and overdoses within the facilities. The Detentions and Corrections Division remains committed to utilizing all available resources to keep our jails drug-free.
