OPD News:
Arrests Made in November 2021 and May 2025 Homicide Cases
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has arrested Deshaun Mays in connection with the homicide of Sirjewel Brooks, which occurred on May 23, 2025, in the 1400 block of 90th Avenue. Mays was taken into custody on June 11, 2025.
In a separate case, Zocari Hicks was arrested in connection with the homicide of Claijon Tolbert-Bundy, which occurred on November 20, 2021, in the 3900 block of Carrington Street. Hicks was arrested on June 4, 2025, by the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office. Investigators are still searching for additional persons of interest in this case.
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has filed charges against both individuals in connection with their respective cases.
