INCIDENT TYPE: Evading in a Vehicle/Aggravated Assault Against Public Servant/Driving While Intoxicated/Criminal Trespass Habitation
OFFICER SUBMITTING RELEASE: Sgt. Carla Burr

DETAILS: On Sunday, June 15, 2025, at approximately 11:40am, two patrol officers were around 34th and Western and received notification of a stolen car in the area. After confirming with PD dispatch that the car was still reported stolen, officers began searching the area and located the vehicle northbound on Western at Chama.  The officers attempted to stop the car, and the driver began evading in the vehicle. They lost sight of the vehicle near 16 and Kentucky and continued searching the area. While evading, the suspect drove through a parking garage in the area and attempted to run over one officer who tried to stop him.  The vehicle was located abandoned and crashed in the 1500 block of S. Kentucky. The driver ran into a residence in that same block, and the homeowner contacted officers that she thought someone had come into her home and locked himself in an upstairs bedroom. The suspect tried to escape through a window, but officers were there, and he was taken into custody. Due to the crash, the stolen car caught on fire and AFD came out to extinguish the fire.  The suspect, Aaron Walling, male, birthday 06/12/1988, was taken to an area hospital and a blood draw warrant was issued for DWI and a blood sample was taken.  After being medically cleared, the suspect was taken to the Potter County Jail and booked for Evading in a vehicle, Aggravated Assault against a Peace Officer, Driving While Intoxicated, and Criminal Trespass of a Habitation.
