SLPD Investigates First Homicide of the Year 
On Saturday, June 14th, 2025, around 8:23 AM, San Leandro police officers responded to the area of Euclid Avenue and East 14th Street to ascertain the welfare of a subject on the ground. Arriving officers found an unresponsive male, in his late 40’s, lying on his back with a dog still leashed to his hand. Medical personnel pronounced the subject deceased at the scene. Once the Coroner’s Bureau arrived, it was determined the victim had suffered an apparent gunshot wound to his back.
Detectives from the Crimes against Persons Unit responded to take over the investigation. While there is no information yet regarding a possible motive for this homicide, investigators do not believe there is any on-going threat to the community.
The victim’s dog did not appear to be injured and was taken to a temporary shelter.
