INCIDENT: CVC 10801 Operating a Chop Shop and PC 496d(a) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
LOCATION: 12000 Block of 5th Street, Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Derrek Garcia, 30-years-old, Resident of Yucaipa, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, June 11, at 2;00 p.m., detectives from the San Bernardino Sheriff's Central Station conducted an investigation regarding a residential burglary that occurred in the unincorporated area of San Bernardino.
During the investigation, a search warrant was authorized for a residence located in the 12000 block of 5th street in Yucaipa. During the service of the search warrant, detectives located a workshop on the property which contained parts to a stolen motorcycle from Los Angeles County. After a complete search of the property, detectives and members from the San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force (SANCATT) were identified several stolen motorcycles and components indicative of a chop shop.
Derrek Garcia was arrested in connection to the chop shop and for being in possession of the stolen motorcycle. Garcia was booked into the Central Detention Center on a $50,000 bail.
