Bicycle parking changes, including additional bike racks, coming to the Hoboken Terminal area due to upcoming construction
Due to ongoing water infrastructure upgrades as part of the Hudson Place Area Water Main Improvement Project, and construction related to the Hoboken Connect Redevelopment Project, the City of Hoboken is relocating bicycle parking on the south side of Hudson Place between River Street and Warrington Plaza.
To mitigate the impact on cyclists, the City is adding bike racks throughout the terminal area, beginning June 17, to increase bicycle parking capacity by approximately 56 spaces. Racks will be installed at the following locations:
- Northeast corner of River Street and Hudson Place
- Southwest corner of River Street and Newark Street
- Northeast corner of Hudson Street and Newark Street
- South side of Newark Street between River Street and Hudson Place
- East side of Hudson Street between Hudson Place and Newark Street
- East side of Hudson Street between Newark Street and First Street
- In the daylighting areas at the intersection of Hudson Street & First Street
- West side of River Street between Hudson Place and Newark Street
- South side of Hudson Place between Hudson Street and River Street
Citi Bike docking stations and valet services will remain available during construction.
The Hudson Place Area Water Main Improvement project involves the replacement of over 850 linear feet of existing water mains. It is part of the City’s Water System Renewal Program, initiated in 2016, to modernize Hoboken’s drinking water infrastructure and reduce the need for emergency repairs. By the end of 2025, it is anticipated that 28,700 feet of aged water mains will have been replaced throughout the City.
