OPD Safety Measures for Juneteenth Holiday
As we prepare for the Juneteenth holiday on Thursday, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) will work in partnership with all city departments to support public safety efforts around Lake Merritt.
Officers are prepared to issue citations and make arrests when necessary to maintain a safe and family-friendly atmosphere for everyone.
Only permitted vendors will be allowed to operate in the area. Unpermitted sales, including the sale of alcohol or cannabis, will not be tolerated.
Residents and businesses near Lake Merritt should expect traffic and parking restrictions throughout the day on Thursday, June 19. Please plan for possible delays and limited access.
We appreciate the community’s cooperation and support in helping ensure that the 2025 Juneteenth celebration remains safe, respectful, and peaceful for all.
