OPD Seeks Help in Solving the Homicide of Shamieka Mabery
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is asking for the community’s assistance in solving the homicide of Shamieka Mabery, which occurred on February 24, 2023, in the 6900 block of International Boulevard.
OPD's Homicide Section is releasing an image of the suspect connected to this case, identified as Brandon Bell. On the night of Mabery's death, the two argued, and Bell later shot Mabery while she was seated inside a vehicle. He then left the scene on foot. A warrant has been issued for Bell's arrest.
Mabery’s family released the following statement:
“She was a daughter, a friend, a neighbor, a pet parent, and a woman full of dreams. Shamieka didn’t come from wealth or privilege. She was a Black woman from the projects of San Francisco. But her life was no less valuable than any other. We’re asking for the public not forget her. Say her name. Share her story. Help bring justice to a woman who can no longer fight for herself.
Until justice is served, Shamieka cannot rest in peace.”
