Community meeting tonight on 511-521 Newark St; Municipal offices closed Thursday; Provide feedback on CDBG funding

REMINDER: Community meeting on 511-521 Newark St.  tonight

The City of Hoboken invites residents to a virtual community meeting tonight, June 17, at 6 p.m. on the proposed redevelopment project at 511-521 Newark St. The project team will discuss the proposed 9-story mixed-use property and amendments to the Southwest Redevelopment Plan needed to achieve the proposed design. The proposed project includes 54 residential units, five of which would be affordable housing, as well as ground floor retail space, 54 indoor bicycle parking spaces for building residents, and a green roof.

The building is proposed to be set back from the property line to provide a dedicated loading/drop-off zone along Newark Street, as well as a sidewalk-level, two-way bike lane, which will ultimately serve as a segment of the Green Circuit, a multi-modal pathway envisioned to encircle the entirety of Hoboken. The proposed segment along 511-521 Newark Street is part of a larger plan to create a protected bike lane that connects the existing protected Observer Highway bike lane and the NJ Transit bikeway between Newark and the Second Street Light Rail.
