Flood Recovery Application

Allegany County Launches Unified Flood Recovery Application to Support Impacted Residents
In response to the devastating flooding that occurred on May 13, 2025, Allegany County, working in close coordination with the Maryland Department of Emergency Management and the Allegany County Department of Social Services, has launched a single, combined application to streamline aid for affected residents.

This comprehensive application is designed to connect residents with a variety of disaster recovery funds through one form. Eligible applicants may qualify for assistance such as:

  • Appliance replacement
  • Vehicle insurance deductible reimbursement
  • Contributions toward building material costs
  • And more
This unified approach allows us to manage multiple funding streams efficiently, while making it easier for residents to access critical support. Our goal is to distribute funds as quickly and equitably as possible.

Multiple Sources of Funding Available
The most substantial portion of available funding comes from the State Disaster Recovery Fund, which has allocated $459,000 to Allegany County. Additional funding sources are available from the Allegany County Department of Social Services and the Western Maryland Strong Fund.

Each of these sources may have different eligibility requirements or restrictions. The application process will match residents with the appropriate support based on their needs and qualifications.

How to Apply
Residents are encouraged to apply online at:

For those without internet access or needing assistance, iPads will be available at the following locations:
  • Westernport Town Hall
  • Barton Town Hall
  • Lonaconing Town Hall
  • Midland Town Hall
  • Lonaconing Library
Application Deadline: July 18, 2025

Phase 1 of the application will remain open through Friday, July 18, 2025. At that time, we will assess the remaining funding and determine whether to reopen the application for a second phase.

We recognize that these funds cannot make residents completely whole. We understand the true cost of recovery is far greater. These resources are meant to provide some relief and serve as a small but meaningful step toward rebuilding.

For additional information or questions, residents may contact the Department of Emergency Services at [email protected].
