Carroll Charged with Meth Possession
Detective David Jones with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team charged 48-year-old Shannon Jerome Carroll of Old Fort with felony Possession of Methamphetamine, misdemeanor Littering (not more than 10 lbs.), and misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer. He was denied bond due to already being out on pretrial release.
On Wednesday, June 4, Det. Jones initiated a vehicle stop on a Honda for a traffic violation. Carroll, the driver, did not promptly comply and continued driving at a slow rate of speed while tossing items out of the car window before pulling over a short time later.
The items were located by Det. Jones and MCSO K9 Hiko and included a suspected amount of methamphetamine.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up numerous pills that belonged to a passenger, Julie Clark Owens, 47, of Marion. She was charged with misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule II, III, and IV Controlled Substances; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia.
