On June 20, 2025, at approximately 6:42 p.m., Fremont Police Department officers responded to the 39000 block of Overacker Avenue to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located two shooting victims. One victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area trauma center. The second victim succumbed as a result of being shot.
Along with our patrol operations, the Special Response Team (SRT) was activated to support the endeavors of this investigation. Once the area was deemed safe, a thorough canvass was conducted along with crime scene processing. At this time, investigators are following up on actionable leads. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office was notified and they will be working on the victim’s identification and notification to next of kin. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
This is Fremont’s first homicide in 2025.
