Heat Advisory
Mayor Michael Johnson, the Haledon Municipal Council, and the Haledon Office of Emergency Management announce the following:
HEAT ADVISORY
Due to a Heat Advisory in effect through 8pm, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the Senior Center at the Haledon Municipal Complex will be open as a Cooling Center. The community is encouraged to stay hydrated and to check on the elderly, children, and pets. Anyone seeking this service, may check-in at the Main Desk in the Haledon Police Department. The Haledon Police Department may be directly reached at 973.790.4444.
A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! In cases of emergencies, call 911.
