Narrative:

On 06/21/2025, members from the Sheriff’s Homeless Liaison Unit (HLU) assisted detectives from the Headquarters Patrol Station in apprehending a suspect in an attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon case.

On 06/18/2025, deputies from the Headquarters Patrol Station responded to a transient encampment in the area of Harbor Boulevard and Gonzales Road in the unincorporated area of Oxnard, for a report of an assault and attempted robbery. Deputies located two victims in the encampment who reported a suspect, the investigation later identified as (S) Anthony Alviso, entered their encampment and assaulted them with makeshift weapons causing injuries to one of the victims. Alviso attempted to steal one of the victim’s bicycles during the incident. Alviso fled the area before deputies arrived.

On 6/21/2025, a team of HLU deputies along with detectives from the Headquarters Patrol Station searched for Alviso in the transient encampments in the area. The HLU deputies’ knowledge of the area and relationship with the local transient population led to the location and apprehension of Alviso.
Alviso was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and attempted robbery. Alviso remains in the custody of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office pending his court hearings.  Alviso’s bail was set at $105,000.
