INCIDENT: Contact Minor with Intent to Commit Lewd Acts/Sending Harmful Material to Seduce a Minor
LOCATION: 20000 block of Thunderbird Rd., Apple Valley, CA 92307
SUSPECT(S): Douglas A. Bergschneider, 33-year-old male resident of Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: Detectives assigned to the Morongo Basin Station investigated a sex offender on the social media platform, KiK. Douglas A. Bergschneider, who used username "JohnTwinkletit" on KiK, communicated with an underage female who identified herself as 13-years-old. Bergschneider sent the 13-year-old explicit photographs of himself and attempted to meet the 13-year-old to have sex. Investigators learned Bergschneider was an Apple Valley resident and a registered sex offender.
On Thursday, June 19, 2025, detectives from Morongo Basin Station and Crimes Against Children Detail, executed a search warrant at the 20000 block of Thunderbird Rd., in the Town of Apple Valley.
Investigators contacted Bergschneider at the location and placed him under arrest for PC 288.2(a)(1) – Sending Harmful Material to Seduce a Minor and PC 288.3(a) – Contact Minor with Intent to Commit Lewd Acts. Douglas was booked at High Desert Detention Center.
Detectives believe there could be additional victims due to Bergschneider actively seeking underage girls.
