Shooting Investigation

Report Number: 25-3223

On the evening of Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Culver City Police received a call of shots fired in the area of Culver City High School, at the 11000 block of Franklin Avenue. At the time, an estimated 200 to 300 people were attending a vigil on the High School Football Field for a student who was tragically murdered in the city of Torrance last week. Police were in the area and arrived at the scene within 2 minutes.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed that a fight occurred during the event, which then led to a shooting. At this time, we do not have reports of anyone being struck by gunfire or injured in this incident.

While on scene, our officers were alerted by witnesses to a suspicious vehicle that may have been related to the shooting. This vehicle was stopped, and the adult driver was found to be illegally in possession of a loaded firearm; he was subsequently arrested.  It was later determined that this individual was not involved in the shooting incident. The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing.

Acts of violence will not be tolerated in our community, and we will work tirelessly in partnership with our community to investigate this crime and hold those responsible accountable.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Culver City Police Department Watch Commander at (310) 253-6202.
