INCIDENT: PC 487 Grand Theft
LOCATION: 34373 Yucaipa Boulevard, Yucaipa, CA
SUSPECT(S): David Smith, 42-year-old resident of Yucaipa
VICTIM(S): Oak House Restaurant, City of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Saturday, June 21, 2025, two male suspects entered the Oak House Restaurant property in the early morning hours and stole approximately 85 Koi fish from the pond in front of the restaurant. Through diligent investigative efforts, deputies tracked the suspect's vehicle to and from the scene, capturing crucial surveillance footage that led to the identification of the suspect, David Smith.
Following these leads, deputies executed a search warrant at Smith's residence, where they located the suspect vehicle along with Smith.
Deputies recovered five of the stolen Koi fish along with additional evidence linking Smith to the crime. The Koi fish have since been returned to their grateful owners.
Smith was arrested on charges of Grand Theft (PC 487) and is currently being held at the Central Detention Center with a bail amount of $30,000.
