Murder suspect Yahiko West identified by Police and captured by the Sheriff’s Office in under 24 hours. 
On June 25, 2025, officers from the Clayton County Police Department responded to a reported "Person Shot" incident in the area of Tara Boulevard at Tara Rd.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim shot several times, succumbing to his injuries at the scene.
The Outstanding Detectives of the Clayton County Police Department worked tirelessly throughout the night and identified Yahiko West as the suspect responsible for the shooting.
Yahiko West has been charged with the following offenses:
- Malice Murder
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
In accordance with SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN 'S commitment to public safety, the Sheriff’s Elite Fugitive Unit, was activated with Yahiko West being the target.
Yahiko West was apprehended within hours of being identified and is currently held at the Clayton County Sheriff's Jail pending his court proceedings.
This quick outcome wouldn’t have been possible without the great talent and teamwork of both law enforcement entities working together.
