SUSPECT(S): Christina Coatney, 56-year-old resident of Hesperia

SUMMARY:
On June 13, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., deputies with the Hesperia Police Department responded to Motel 6 located at 9757 Cataba Road for a report of vehicle theft. Investigators learned an unknown female suspect stole the victim's vehicle keys and fled the scene with the victim's vehicle.
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, investigators located the victim's stolen vehicle near Bear Valley Road and Peach Avenue in Hesperia. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, detained the driver, identifed as Christina Coatney, and recovered the victim's stolen vehicle.
Investigators conducted a record check and discovered Coatney was previously convicted of burglary and shoplifting. Due to California's new laws under Prop 36, Coatney was also charged with violation of PC 666.1(a)(1) Theft with Prior Convictions.
Coatney was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for VC10851(a) Vehicle Theft, PC496d(a) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and PC666.1(a)(1) Theft with Prior Convictions.
