INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Vineyard Avenue / Church Street, Rancho Cucamonga
Driver: Omar Ahmed, 19-year-old male from Rancho Cucamonga, California
Pedestrian: Patti Burns, 80-year-old female from Rancho Cucamonga, California
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, June 26, 2025, at about 9:13 PM, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Vineyard Avenue, near the intersection of Church Street.
Omar Ahmed drove his vehicle north on Vineyard Avenue approaching Church Street. As Ahmed approached the intersection, his vehicle collided into Patti Burns, who was crossing the roadway. Upon arrival, deputies performed lifesaving measures until they were relieved by American Medical Response (AMR) and the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District. Despite lifesaving efforts, Burns was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Deputies A. Villalobos and A. Smith from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation. Intoxication is not suspected and is not believed to have been a factor. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
