| Narrative: | |||||
| On May 5th, 2025, at 1432 hours, deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to the report of a commercial burglary that occurred between 05/03/25 and 05/04/25, in the 500 block of Hampshire Road in Westlake. Through the investigation, deputies learned the suspect(s) had likely entered the business through an unsecured window and stole the victim’s property with a value in excess of $2,100.00. As a result of the initial investigation, biological evidence was collected from the scene. Detectives with the East County Investigations Bureau began a thorough investigation and, through modern investigative techniques and various law enforcement resources, identified the suspect of the burglary as Elijah Alford Nurse. Furthermore, detectives learned Nurse had been arrested following the burglary and was already in custody at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility (PTDF) in Ventura, CA for unrelated charges. Nurse was supplementally booked into the Ventura County Jail for one count of Penal Code section 459 – [Burglary]. The investigation is ongoing by the East County Investigations Bureau – Commercial / Residential Burglary Unit. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office reminds the citizens of the greater Thousand Oaks area that our city is made up of extremely safe communities. However, this sense of safety is occasionally exploited by the criminal element. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office recommends citizens consider taking reasonable safety measures to deter crime, including the installation of security cameras or alarm systems, ensuring accessible areas of your property have good lighting at night, and ensuring all doors and windows are locked prior to leaving their home or business. |
