Storage Unit Burglar Arrested on Multiple Counts of Burglary and Additional Charges

Burglar arrested after search yields recovered stolen property from numerous victims.

San Mateo, CA – On June 25, 2025, a San Mateo PD Community Service Officer (CSO) responded to a storage facility on the 2200 block of S. Delaware St., where she learned three storage units had been burglarized. Multiple victims had reported numerous high valued tools, electronics, rare memorabilia, collectibles and firearms stolen during these incidents.

The following day, June 26, 2025, while conducting follow-up on these cases, the CSO was able to obtain a license plate for a vehicle that was determined to be an investigative lead. Further investigation led to the identity of the driver as Aaron Hassan. It was then discovered that Hassan was likely responsible not only for the three burglaries on 6/25/25, but also for numerous other burglaries and attempted burglaries spanning at least two weeks prior.

With the assistance of our Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) and Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) Hassan was later contacted, and a probation search of his vehicle was made. In the vehicle were several items reported stolen, as well as a large amount of narcotics. A probation search of Hassan’s residence was also made, where a vast quantity of stolen items, including two stolen firearms were recovered. Hassan was arrested on four counts of burglary and additional charges pertaining to both possession of guns and drugs. He was transported and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.

This case is ongoing and still an active investigation. We will be working diligently to locate all owners of the recovered stolen property. This is a good time to remind you, if you own anything of value, please make it a point to keep serial numbers, descriptions/photos, values and the like. Regarding tools, mark them with some type of identifier as well. This all helps us when recovering items, as well as when it comes to returning them. This goes for whether you store these items at home, at work, or off-premise at a storage unit.
