Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun and drug charges.
On June 25, at approximately 2:19 p.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the 1700 block of Locust Street, when they observed a male subject engaged in drug-related activity. Police made contact with 22-year-old Shannon Johnson, who was taken into custody without incident. Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, 18.8 grams of crack cocaine, 3.15 grams of heroin, $775, and drug paraphernalia.
Johnson has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity – Two Counts
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $113,500 cash-only bail.
