Full Notification

In the afternoon of June 30, the Simi Valley Police Department received a call of a potential crime in the 2100 block of Cheam Avenue.  Certain aspects of the call alerted department personnel that the incident might be a false report, commonly referred to as a "swatting" incident.  Officers responded to the location, took proper tactical precaution, and were able to confirm that it was a false report and the residents were safe.

Reporting a false emergency can be a felony under California Penal Code 148.3(b).  This incident will be investigated further in an attempt to identify the perpetrator.
