The use or possession of illegal fireworks is punishable by fines up to $5,000. Property owners can also be held responsible if illegal fireworks are used on their property or possessed by others there.

Celebrate Safely This Fourth of July!
The Fourth of July is a time for fun and making great memories, but before you celebrate, take these extra precautions to ensure your holiday is both exciting and safe!
Fireworks in Temple City: Know the Rules
- Only "Safe and Sane" fireworks are allowed on July 4th, between the hours of 12 p.m. and 10 p.m.
- These fireworks are identified by the State Fire Marshal’s “Safe and Sane” seal.
- Fireworks are prohibited on City property, including parks and parking lots.
- Read caution labels and performance descriptions before using any fireworks.
- A responsible adult should supervise all firework activities.
- Keep pets indoors. Loud noises can scare animals, causing them to panic or run away.
- Never mix alcohol with fireworks.
- Light one firework at a time and move away quickly.
- Only use fireworks outdoors in a clear area, away from buildings, vehicles, and dry brush.
- If a firework doesn’t go off, never relight it. Wait 20 minutes, then soak it in water.
- Always keep a bucket of water and a charged garden hose nearby.
- Never carry fireworks in your pocket or shoot them into metal or glass containers.
- Do not experiment with homemade fireworks.
- After use, soak used fireworks in water and dispose of them in a metal trash can, away from buildings or flammable materials.
