Flash Flood Warning until 12:30AM Wednesday

FFWGSP The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Central Habersham County in northeastern Georgia...

* Until 1230 AM EDT.

* At 939 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Showers and storms will move back into the area this evening, resulting in additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Clarkesville, Cornelia, Baldwin, Demorest, Mount Airy, Raoul, Hollywood and Turnerville. This includes the following streams and drainages... Fry Branch, Davidson Creek, Blue Creek, Sutton Mill Creek, trib to Soquee River, Deep Creek, Shoal Creek, Rock Ford Branch, Mud Creek, Dicks Creek, Glade Creek, Toccoa Creek, Beaverdam Creek, and Hazel Creek.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HABERSHAM, GA

When it is safe to do so, please report flooding or landslides threatening roads or property to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg by calling toll free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by posting on our Facebook page, or via X using hashtag NWSGSP. Your message should describe the specific location where impacts occurred and the depth of flooding observed. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
