Residents will notice this Primacy Fee on their utility bill this month.
This is a state-mandated fee collected by public water systems on behalf of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR). It appears as a charge on your July utility bill each year.
What Is It Used For?
The Primacy Fee helps fund the DNR’s efforts to:
Monitor drinking water quality
Conduct inspections of public water systems
Provide technical assistance
Help ensure safe, clean drinking water for all Missourians
How Much Is It?
The fee is based on meter size. For MW residents it is $5.28 per year for residential accounts.
REMINDER: This is not a city fee—it is required by the State of Missouri and passed through to support essential water safety programs.
