Information About July 4th Activities
Happy Independence Day from the Moraga Police Department!
Thus far, many have had a wonderful time at the Commons Park, where the celebration continues through the fireworks viewing. Our fireworks are scheduled to start about 9:30 pm, depending upon darkness. Please remember that Moraga Way will be closed between Camino Ricardo and Hardie from 9:00 pm until about 10:30 pm for safety reasons. It will reopen when the fireworks have ended and pedestrians are clear.
So far today, we have had a small grass fire near St. Mary’s College, while there have been larger fires in both Concord and Antioch. As you can see, the grasses on the hills are very dry and we have a wind blowing. Fire danger in the area is high, so please be cautious. If you see a column of smoke or a fire burning, please call 9-1-1 and report it. Additionally, ALL FIREWORKS ARE PROHIBITED IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, including Moraga.
Thank you for helping us keep Moraga safe. Best wishes for a safe celebration of our country’s independence!
