At approximately 11:27 P.M., on Friday, July 4, 2025, Palmdale station deputies responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Rancho Vista Boulevard near the intersection of Avenue N-8 in the city of Palmdale.
Based on their preliminary investigation, a 2008 Mazda 3, driven by a male Hispanic adult, on Rancho Vista Boulevard from Avenue N-8 at an unknown high rate of speed, lost control of his vehicle and drove into the opposite lanes of travel, colliding head-on with a 2010 Chrysler 300. The driver of the Chrysler 300 was a male Black adult who was driving north on Rancho Vista Boulevard at an unknown rate of speed. The driver of the 2008 Mazda succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the 2010 Chrysler 300 was transported to a local hospital for injuries.
Palmdale Station Traffic Investigator Detective Christopher Ogden responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information at this time.
