Catalytic Converter Theft Tools Found After High-Speed Pursuit 
On July 7, 2025, at approximately 11:57 p.m., a Simi Valley Police Department (SVPD) officer observed a suspicious vehicle exiting Tapo Canyon Road. A traffic stop was initiated, and the vehicle initially yielded. However, as the officer approached on foot, the driver fled the scene, prompting a vehicle pursuit.
With the assistance of the Los Angeles Police Department Air Unit, SVPD officers pursued the suspect through multiple areas of Los Angeles. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop on a residential street near the I-105 and I-110 freeway interchange.
The driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers safely apprehended the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Abisai Rodriguez of Victorville.
A subsequent investigation revealed Rodriguez was in possession of tools commonly used in vehicle and catalytic converter thefts. He was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for the following charges:
- 2800.2 VC – Felony evading a peace officer
- 148(a)(1) PC – Resisting, obstructing, or delaying a peace officer
- 466 PC – Possession of burglary tools
