Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Burglary Suspects
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying the male suspects pictured below, who broke into an apartment on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
At approximately 6:40 p.m., the suspects, described as Hispanic, were captured on surveillance video breaking into the first-floor residence on Downing Street, near Madison Street. They entered through a window but fled after a resident, who witnessed the break-in, told them he would call the police.
The suspects fled eastbound on Downing Street, then southbound on Madison Street toward Ferry Street. Suspect #1, described as 5’6” with a skinny build, wore a black shirt, white jeans, and white sneakers. Suspect #2, also described as 5’6” with a skinny build, wore a white hat, a black ski mask, a tank top, black jeans, and white sneakers.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspects’ identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
