WEATHER ALERT - Strong Storms Possible This Evening
Hot and humid conditions will set the stage for storm development today as a cold front approaches the region. There's just a low risk for an initial pop - up shower / storm this afternoon, but most stay dry until the main risk develops late day into sunset. A few storms can turn strong to severe, capable of producing up to 50 - 65 mph wind gusts along with torrential downpours that can lead to areas of poor drainage / roadway flooding issues. There can also be isolated stream / creek issues, especially the hardest hit locales that receive 1 - 2"+. Things quiet down later this evening into tonight.
