OPD News:
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has arrested Dwane Stewart in connection with the homicide of Timothy Conover, which occurred on July 5, 2025, in the 800 block of 41st Street.
Stewart was safely taken into custody on July 6, 2025, due to the tireless efforts of OPD's Homicide Investigators, Ceasefire, and Special Resource Section (SRS) East.
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has filed charges against Stewart for his involvement in the crime.
Background:
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just before 12:30 a.m. on July 5, 2025, in the 800 block of 41st Street. OPD's Communication Division received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a person had been shot.
When officers arrived, they located a victim with a gunshot wound(s). Medical personnel arrived and confirmed that the victim was deceased.
On July 6, 2025, just after 7:30 p.m., an individual was taken into custody related to the homicide.
